Mindfulness is love, compassion and empathy for yourself and others. It focuses on being aware of what you are sensing and feeling in the present moment, without judgement or interpretation, letting go of limiting beliefs and finding wonderment and awe in everyday situations. Can you bring yourself back to when you were a child? The way you seen things, smelt things, heard things and felt things with curiosity and openness? Mindfulness reminds us how to be like this again, to focus on being, rather than just doing, making life once again more experiential.
During these sessions you can choose to sit or lie down with your shoes off and fully clothed. The practitioner will sit on a chair close by and will support you through practicing mindfulness which will involve breathing methods, guided imagery and other practices to relax the mind, body and soul, as well as reducing any stress and tensions that may be present. The main goal of these sessions is to achieve a state of focused relaxation by deliberately being fully present and paying attention to sensations without feeling reactive or overwhelmed. This allows the mind to focus on the present moment and to just ‘be’. Mindfulness is a quality everyone possesses. Sometimes one just needs a little support to relearn it. During these sessions, you may find your mind drifting away but the practitioner will use mindfulness to gently lead you back to where you are at that moment and what you are feeling. Many who practice mindfulness report stress reduction, relaxation, performance enhancement, pain reduction, gaining insight and awareness and overall increased well-being.

During these sessions here at Beech Tree Wellness we like to include a guided body scan, followed by differently incorporated elements each time such as grounding, self-compassion and letting-go. There will also be subtle musical tones playing in the background.
